DIRGENERA compendium

DIRGENERA COMPENDIUM is a series of digital albums RAIG and the Accessory Takes net-label compile and release for the purpose of exposing our listeners to new and exciting artists. The series focuses upon so called dirge-music – noise | drone | ambient | black | doom | sludge | stoner | psyche metal and related genres. Its main goal is to challenge Russian music lovers to try and hopefully support this kind of music as well as to function as a platform that brings underground musicians and listeners from various countries together.

DIRGENERA COMPENDIUM releases are available for free download to all visitors via our web-site. We think of the series as a promotional tool, and musicians can expect to have their tracks heard by hundreds of individuals. Since Accessory Takes does not charge for its releases, we can offer no compensation to musicians for their work, but they keep all rights over the material for future use. A big thanks goes out to all the bands involved; everyone's effort is greatly appreciated. Bands or labels wishing to be featured in the DIRGENERA COMPENDIUM series should submit an inquiry to know specifics.

A dirge is a somber song or tune expressing mourning or grief in commemoration of the dead, such as would be appropriate for performance at a funeral. The English word Dirge is derived from the Latin "Dirige, Domine, Deus meus, in conspectu tuo viam meam (Direct my way in your sight, O Lord my God)", the first words of the first antiphon in the Matins of the Office for the Dead… We dare to think that Dirge is not limited by any particular genre or style of modern underground/alternative music, though Dirge widely reveals itself in Doom, Sludge, Stoner, Black, Drone, Noise areas. It was a real challenge to hear how individual and different a Dirge story could sound from different artist. We thought that to make a compilation with each track having its own voice could be an interesting experience. And we ventured to direct a sort of dirge-play with elements of plot and characters. Here it is. We are very pleased to announce the cast of "Dirgenera. The album Includes: 4 unreleased tracks and versions; 3 tracks from the forthcoming cd-albums; 2 tracks from released cd-albums; and 2 tracks which were recorded especially for this release (compendium specials).
